Sponsored by Cave Creek-based Linda Budge Studio, the “Dog Days of August” contest is open to Arizona residents of all ages from August 1 through August 31.
To enter, simply write a 500 to 700-word short story in one of the following five categories:
My Hero
A Laughable Moment
How We Met
Something to Bark About
In the Dog House
Short stories must be accompanied by a color photo of your dog, a signed entry form, and a $20 OR MORE entry fee. Your $20 OR MORE entry fee should be payable to your favorite animal charity.
Stories must be typewritten. Please note: By signing this entry form, you acknowledge the essay you submit and the image of your dog becomes the property of Linda Budge. PHOTOS AND ESSAYS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.
Please mail your short story, signed entry form, photo of your dog and a $20 OR MORE entry fee made out to your favorite animal charity to: Linda Budge Studio, P.O. Box 4050, Cave Creek, AZ 85327.
Checks will be delivered to the organizations after the contest. Proceeds from cash entry fees will be donated to the Arizona Humane Society.
Essays and photos will be reviewed throughout August. The winning entrant will be notified by September 15.
GRAND PRIZE: The winner will receive a 16” x 20” original oil, custom-framed portrait of his or her dog valued at $2,700. In addition, the winner will receive a packet of 50 greeting cards featuring the painted image of his or her dog. The winner must bring his or her dog to the Linda Budge Studio for a consultation and photos prior to work beginning.
You may also win $500 gift certificate for the 1st Prize, $250 gift certificate for the 2nd Prize or $100 gift certificate for the 3rd Prize in each of the five essay categories.
Special Note: There is no limit to the amount you can give to your favorite charity. Linda Budge will gladly deliver checks of higher amounts to animal charities; however, the amount you give does not influence your chances of winning the contest.
